Dinner at my American friend's house
Luckily for me working in Artists Harbour I get to meet some wonderful people and some of them are american volunteers! My job is great in that respect. I have met so many good people through this job. Anyway, my American friend, Cecelia not long ago married an english guy called John, at Christmas time I think.
She invited us over for a meal last night, together with two other friends, Jan and Pete. Great people. Though they are all in their 50's we all got on really well and age wasn't an issue at all. Mark seemed to be relaxed and enjoying himself too, which was good for me as sometimes he can make it clear that he doesn't want to be at a place. The food was fantastic and I even surprised myself by eating venison and pheasant pate. Don't normally do pate but this was from Brussels, as they had just come back from there. It was served with a loganberry sweet sauce which complimented the pate beautifully. God, I'm hungry just thinking about it. There was also tampanade which too was delicious. For the main we had salmon served with mangetout coated in roasted sesame seeds, new potatoes roasted, mushrooms in an onion sauce, oh and there was a bernaise sauce too! It was fantastic, and so was the 4 bottles of rioja we had with it.
Now I am not really a pudding person, but when someone has gone to so much effort, I cannot refuse! And I am so glad I didn't, infact Pete and I shared the practice runs which were in the fridge later. It was a circle of meringue, filled with a coule of fruit and cream cheese. On the outside fresh raspberries surrounded it. Absolutely delicious without being sickly - my kind of pudding. I just remembered, with that I had a very fine orange liquour. Don't normally do liquour - especially orange, but this was Gott queet! (Swedish for good shit!!). Everyone else was on the port.
So all in all it was a very pleasant evening....I am glad I am socialising more now - and with new friends too. All is good.
See y'all
