Friday - day off

What a wierd day it has been today. So much has happened - some good and some bad. Knew I had a hospital appointment this morning for a post op check up, and vaguely remembered that it was around 10.40am. So at 9.30 I decided to check my filo-fax to confirm...it had gone from my bag - it never leaves my bag - so i checked the paper work which is on the kitchen shelf...but it wasn't there. Shit! So I immediately got on a bus and headed for the hospital I'd had my nose op in. Didn't know what floor i should be on but went for the first one. Realised that it wasn't that and so did the second, which was where i had my op. I explained my loss of paper but they said i should go to the floor below for post op examination. Right the first time!!! Got there, told the receptionist my details and she confirmed that I was at the wrong bloody hospital and had the wrong time!! Shit!! I got her to phone the other hospital to let them know that i may be late...while i dashed to the main entrance to call a cab. Sods law is definately on my side!!! Permenantly engaged!! Saw the same taxi firm car drop off a group and banged on his window. Asked if he could call the company to book a cab for me, to which he replied 'hop in, but don't let anyone know that I am doing this'. It is illegal to pick up a fare unless they have booked with this particular company. I didn't care...i was just grateful I may get to the correct hospital in time!!

We got chatting to pass the time away and next thing I know at the end of the fare, he has given me a card with his number on it. I was pleasantly surprised although there was no way anything would come of it..but why I was so pleased is that I have never, in all my years, been slipped a telephone number...So Tony, Cheers!

Was 5 minutes early, and after all that was only in with the Doc for 2 mins max.

Went home and bought and prepared lots of food for tomorrows BBQ. Am very excited about tommorow. I used to entertain alot before I started my job a year ago. So it was nice to be back in my old role, knowing I'd be looking after people... I see that as my role.

That took most of the afternoon up, together with cleaning...don't want Dom to think we live in a pig sty although 80% of the time we do! Anyway, life is too short to spend that much time cleaning! Well that is my opinion and i am sticking to it!!!

At six we went and picked Ulri up so we could go to my colleague's Private View of his new Exhibition. She got in the car, slightly upset asking if we'd heard about Jim. Jim who, I replied. Jim Alabaster. He was a year below me in college but also the guy who I rented the space off of to do my solo exhibiton last year. He was a complete arse but that didn't prepare me when she told me he died yesterday in a motarbike accident. Fuck! I think we are all still in shock. It has n't sunk in yet. He must have been about 40, with kids. I didn't have much time for the guy last time I saw him, but that doesn't mean I would wish this on him or anybody. He was always renowned for being a mad driver..and it wasn't just him that was killed. His friend was too. Pause for thought....

So we drove to Midhurst, which is a pretty drive. The gallery was set really in the middle of nowhere...but that didn't stop Duchess and Dukes from turning up!! Was thrilled for Julian as he had already sold 2 large paintings. Have to say though, the clientelle was on average over 70, lardy-da, and rich - so that helped! after a while we said our good byes and headed home. And here I am blogging after being stuffed with chinese spare ribs and rice. Yum Yum.

I am now going to look up the news to find out more about Jim and the accident.

See y'all soon. Have a great weekend.
