Friday 13th - what the fuck!
Is it me or are Friday's turning out to be really shit news days? Last week I was told a distant friend had died from a motorbike accident - turns out it was his own fault -swerving in and out of his other mates bikes and accidently colliding! Well tonight, I get a call from my very ill friend John. I actually didn't recognise him and thought someone was taking the piss! He rang to say that our distant friend (was close at one time but he lives in Bristol now) Piers's mother had just died. She had found out she had leukimia 27 days ago and now this happens. Is it a Friday thing that I hear this terrible news...is it because it is Friday 13th? No matter, I guess I am getting older and should expect to hear more sad news. I can understand my nan being blazee at nearly 90 - they must be dropping like expected flies and emotion tends to disappear after apoint! Can't handle this though...what if it becomes closer to home...it already is on Mark's side...we are waiting for news of the death of his cousin's wife, Catrina, 54 who has a massive brain tumour. Get this, they said if she goes through kimo she will add another 5 weeks on to her life. WTF!!!
On a lighter note, as you all are aware, I have a permenant craving for mussels. My friend Maggie actually had the nerve to ask if I was pregnant. Well no chance of that!! Besides, couldn't face the thought of having children....maybe for tea! Anyway, I picked up a large bag of mussels from the local fish market, (see pic) £3.20 for the lot. We decided to be greedy and eat in two stages, so that they were eaten fresh- it was a big bag! Mussels are beautiful in every way. Take the time to look carefully at the shell. It is beautiful.
Time to go...See y'all. Take care x x x

So how do you like to eat them? Red sauce or white? We usually like them Thai style steamed with basil, lemongrass and garlic, then dipped in hot sauce - hmmm, think I'll have that tonight, in fact =P

Michelle. I am an addict of recipes and any you can give me will be greatly appreciated. The mussels were done with shallots, creme fraiche, garlic, white wine and the best bit first time round was a dash of curry paste with fresh coriander. The second lot was just simple moules marniere. Delicious. Could eat more now!! I would love your recipes for mussels. Cheers
