Sweden
Well I made it to Sweden on my own which is a major break through. Actually it was straight forward which is encouraging for me as I know I can do this again now! I took the Arlanda Express to Stockholm which is incredibly fast. (166kmph!) Ulri picked me up from there and we got a cab home.
What an amazing city! The architecture is stunning and made up of fantastic complimentary colours which, against a blue sky, are absolutely stunning. Ulri's flat is great too. It is a perfect size and makes me just want my own too even more now! I am having to get used to wierd things here, like pushing open a door to get out of a lift!
Ulri made me the most delicious sandwich before we headed off out. It was toasted bread with butter and then pesto sauce and on top was sliced mozarella and fresh tomato and basil. It was an honour being made food by her!
We went out and walked to a bar which was at the top of a building and sticking out so you had fantastic views. We had an expensive cocktail each and it was fab. Then we went on a boat called 'Patricia' which is a night club. There are various rooms to dance in on different levels and different bars too. On one floor there was a live band and they were just a brilliant hard rock band singing songs like, summer of 69, U2's 'live with out you'. They were just great.
Observations about Swedes and Sweden so far.
1. Yes they nearly are all blond! (Makes me feel special for a change - it's usually the other way round!)
2. They have to be completely annihilated to even think of dancing.
3. Men don't know how to flirt unless they are completely drunk in my opinion - which is so unattractive (this is according to the fact that men have been taught to treat women equally and to show emotions like that would be disrespectful according to Ulri! - thank god for british builders I say!!! lol.
4. It doesn't get dark, until about 12.30(and this isn't really dark!) and then it starts getting light pretty much immediately!
5. At 1.30am when it is broad daylight, the dawn chorus of birds kick in!!!
6. The equivelant of the British kebab is this wrap which has the wierdest concoction in it which tastes very good. Mash potato, a sausage of your choice, prawn coctail and lettuce!!!!! Delicious. You can find these kiosks on alot of the main roads.
7. Swedish people are no less prone to the 'fat' situation invading Europe. Both men and women appear to be either really skinny or the other way!
After the night club we walked home and had the above food! It is wrapped in like a cone and you are given a fork to eat with. We finished it on the balcony at Ulri's. Perfect end to a perfect evening.
I feel really comfortable here in this city. There is so much to do and explore and Ulri has a lot lined up for me....bless her.
The weather is being extremely kind too. Today on this beautiful Sunday morning it is blue sky. I actually had a lie in and the light through the night didn't effect me at all.
Well, better get off now...am not on hol to sit infront of a computer. But I did want to get my first impressions down.
Take care y'all
